Cataract surgery mishap
Had routine cataract surgery in my left eye in January 2024. Head was not strapped down and eye was not numb enough. When scalpel was inserted into the eye, I jumped up causing a 5 mm incision in the eye. Dr tried for a year and then finally said there's nothing he can do. My eyesight in that eye is 100/20 with glasses. Has anybody else experienced something like this?

yes! I had a wound in my right eye from cataract surgery. It's been about 7 years since it happened. My retina was damaged from infection and then cornea turned white. Had many surgeries. It's still misery with that eye. eye drops all day long, every day. Can barely see out of that eye. I have a cornea transplant. But it was sewn on with blue thread. I have brown eyes. The reflection of the blue thread makes my eye look blue. So, I have one blue eye and one brown eye. I guess I am stable now. But not mentally.
mikaylar,
Given your organic lens is on the inside of your eye, how else could that lens be removed and replaced? Lots of videos online.
How did your visit with Dr. Stiegelman go?
a point re litigation....it is a hassle...and probably may not yield anything....HOWEVER....it may make the doctor and other doctors reading about it...and the OR staff more cautious during their surgeries.
My eye surgery, Suture Iris & Ciliary, scheduled for July 1st. Of course the doctor can't make any promises. He said the pupil is not in the center and there is a gel in the back pulling on it. Next month I see a retina specialist to see about the gel.
I hope you have the best eye doctor around. Where do you live?
By any chance, can anyone recommend a medical malpractice attorney in Florida
Ocala, Florida. Surgery was done by MidFlorida eye center in The villages.
Does anybody have any suggestions for a lawyer that might be interested in this case.
