Carotid endarterectomy - post 5 months
I had a carotid endarterectomy on my left side in April, is now September and numbness on ear and jawline starting to ease off but symptoms have come back - tinnitus, dull throb above ear and both of my legs feel a bit uncontrolled, jelly like. Blood pressure sits around 160/70. Other than that feeling healthy, happy and grateful. Just wanted to know if anyone else has similar issues as myself, 65 year old woman. Thank you.

Interesting. I have moderate bilateral carotid stenosis but not serious enough to warrant an endarterectomy. I share the tinnitus and leg issues with you. Sometimes my legs make me so wobbly that I appear drunk and have actually suffered a few falls. Also, several times they have had a mind of their own and when I want to turn they keep going straight! I have white matter disease and lacunar strokes and always attributed these symptoms to those issues.
At my next neurology visit I will make sure to discuss this. It might be beneficial for you to have an MRI to see if you have chronic microvascular disease or lacunar strokes that might be contributing to your situation.
Good luck!
