Cardiology 2nd Opinion

Posted by jimjames107 @jimjames107, May 7 2:36pm

Multiple and on-going Ventricular Tachycardia events. Some recorded at 108 seconds, some sustained 333 bpm. One event caused ischemic stroke (recovered). Multiple angiograms and echo cardiograhms and I don't feel I am getting the dialog with my physicians I want and need. I really appreciate and respect my current cardiology and electrophysiology teams. However, I have a feeling there are some issues that need a second opinion from more experienced physicians. Suggestions requested. Thank you and please be well. Jim

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and just in March of 2024 I have multiple problems with my heart including Ventricular Tachycardia events at 200 bpm and an aneurysm on the left ventricle on the lower part of my heart.,besides brain aneurysm. I have a Defibrillator for a fast heartbeat.

@jimjames107 I ahve episodes of afib with heart rate around 200 so I can't imagine what 333 bpm feels like. I am also dissatisfied in some ways with doctors I have seen. Do you feel okay about sharing some of the questions and concerns you have that have not been addressed?

I am going to my PCP tomorrow to discuss next steps. The "world class" cardiologist at a major teaching hospital did not answer my questions well.

Hello @jimjames107, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Here is the link for requesting a second opinion with Mayo Clinic, http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63.

You mentioned you are not getting the dialogue that would like at this point in your care, but have a good relationship with your care team. Is there a current care plan to address your ventricular tachycardia events?

I think it is extremely important to feel you are getting the best care and advise you can get from medical professionals. We do not know who is treating you but if you have any concern about second opinions get one. I would get a second opinion with any serious medical issue so I would have that information to help guide me. But that is me and what you will find out on MCC that what is best for one will not be for the other.

I see the moderator sent you a link to get a second opinion with Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic and it's specialist are world reknown and you proabably can't do any better even though there several outstanding medical facilities and outstanding medical specialist. For me doing research, getting seond opinions. and getting any significant test that can help with my diagnosis and treatments is being a proactive patient.

PCP will only send you a heart doctor. the defibrillator seems to be working, also I'm taking meds like taking 200 mg of Amiodarone, Metoprolol Succinate 25 MG XL, and Lisinopril 20 MG. I don't mind sharing info. I was put in the hospital in Feb 2024 for a headache and dizziness and found that I have Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, and Ventricular tachycardia, sustained. Fibromuscular Dysplasia disease 3/15/2024
Comments: I was told I have this and into it. Regarding Anyersms in the brain and neck and at the LV apical aneurysms at the bottom left side of my heart.

@marie1956 I saw the PCP just to discuss the best cardiologist for me in terms of personality and ratings, frankly. I saw a top cardiologist last week and did not have a good experience- and they referred me out to an EP anyway. So I wanted to make sure the EP is a good fit for me since I don't want to jump into certain treatments prematurely.

It sounds like your situation is a lot more complicated and I hope you feel you are getting good care.

@jimjames107 I got 4 opinions for breast cancer so agree on getting a second opinion. If you want to share particulars we can PM-?
