Cardamyst Cost

Posted by cedarbog @cedarbog, Feb 5 8:19am

My cardiologist prescribed Cardamyst for me. When I went to CVS to pick it up, I learned that the cost was $2,000 and the prescription was cancelled. Has anyone attempted purchase or use of this new nasal spray for PSVT episodes?

A little bit of sticker shock for sure in reading the cost of a prescription, but it isn't surprising considering it's a brand new FDA approved drug with no competition at this point.

I looked around, and apparently the manufacturer offers a coupon copay card on its website that offsets much of that price for a prescription. The coupon can be used by either cash paying customers or those customers with commercial drug coverage. The caveat ( as usual) is that those with government-sponsored coverage such as Medicare Part D plans, Medicaid, Tricare are not eligible to use the card.

The link to the manufacturer's site showing the copay card offer is below. Click on the link to the left of the card to get the specifics about the offer and application for the card. What I don't know is if the card is for a one time use or can also be used for subsequent refills. Though as a medication that might be used to stop SVT episodes that occur infrequently, a customer may not need more than an occasional refill. That's a question for the manufacturer, but this coupon might save some eligible folks a significant chunk of money.
