I decided to do CAR-T for ovarian cancer: Anyone else?

Posted by amywells @amywells, Jan 15 9:13am

I have Stage 3b HGSOC with my first recurrence a year after finishing frontline surgery and chemotherapy. I decided to do a CAR-T trial as the next step instead of standard chemo. Has anyone else taken this path?

I have not, nor will I ever, participate in a CAR-T trial, unless they can convince me that this one is really different from all the CAR-T trials that have failed previously in solid tumors (eg ovarian cancers). They have had success in heme malignancies.

I'm willing to try all kinds of crazy things, but I think CAR-Ts are high risk with very little likelihood of success.

I stated my opinion in this post almost a year ago:

I didn't research it again today, so maybe there's been a breakthrough since then.

Which trial is it?

Is it CAR-T or CAR-NKT? There seems to be a big difference

@val64 I believe we spoke last fall. I am currently in hospital doing a CAR-T for a PRAME positive tumor. This is a one time infusion followed by a series of IL-2 injections.

@amywells

I hope the trial goes well for you. Let us know how your experience is.

I looked through the trials that came up on clinicaltrials.gov when I searched "PRAME" and I couldn't figure out which one it was.

I think I figured it out. Probably the ACTengine IMA203/IMA203CD8 trial.

Looks like this one has worked quite well in some melanoma patients and could be a winner. Maybe I'll have to change my mind about CAR-Ts.

That’s the one. My understanding is that is that it’s the most promising trial, but it’s still very much a trial. I decided to do it because my recurrence is considered “low-volume progression” and I wasn’t debilitated going into it.

My study is CAR-T. I’m not aware of whether the other option exists for my mutation
