Candida tests, treatment, effective medications?
Does anyone have any information on how medical doctors treat Candida? Are there any tests that can be run?
Are their medications that work?

No one believes me either. My active life at 78 as I knew it is basically over. I now believe that small white gooey things that crystalize into glass like shards attach themselves to everything eating holes, ruining food, utensils etc., me my house, and my poor rescue Gizmo. GP useless, basically said delusions of age. It's a 3-4 mo wait to see dermatology . My thrush is back after 2 yrs. my body is collapsing and I don't know if that relates to my infestation of "white things" This thing destroys rubber, pits metal and glass besides the lesions on me that itch and burn. Now using mold remover to keep sane, No one (even CDC) wants Dr. reference. Very contagious haven't held 6 yr old grandsons in 3 months. I was happily living with my crohns ..now this!
I had a yeast infection and my doctor prescribed a med which I don’t recall right now. My doctor and dentist both recommended removing the mercury fillings. I’ll be doing that soon. Yes, most of us do have mercury in our system. But that doesn’t mean you should not do something about it. Infrared saunas where you sweat a lot also help our bodies detox from metals, not just mercury.
I have a yeast overgrowth in my digestive system as per stool testing through Life Extension. I also recently had a heavy metal test done through Life Extension. I was informed that my mercury levels were quite high. It was implied that my 5 metal fillings that are approximately 40 years old are causing the high mercury levels. My doctor said "everyone has high mercury levels" and did not recommend filling extraction. Perhaps my Hashimoto's disease and yeast overgrowth are affected by the mercury. Just mentioning this as people are wonder what is causing their immune dysfunction. Susan
Hi!
In my twenties I had a bad vaginal candida infection and other symptoms such as space’s, gastrointestinal problems, etc. I also had pelvic pain. I gave up sugars and ate a low carb diet for several years and gradually began to heal.. once I started eating sugars and more carbs the pelvic pain came back. Now, in my 60’s, I have constant anal itching and pain inside my left pelvic area upon intercourse. In the past 2 weeks I have returned to a no carb diet and have eliminated the anal itching.. I still feel pain in my left pelvic area but feel like this is healing as well. However, the diet is very difficult to maintain for the long term.
There are medications that work but if you are susceptible to recurring infection. It's not in your best interest to take them. Because it will just come back stronger and more resilient to that medication and you'll just have to try a new one and a new one over and over again. You have to find out why it keeps recurring whether it be an immunity issue. A lymphatic system issue, whatever. Obviously you have to get your symptoms under control. For this herbals are better since you basically have to take them long term until you find out why it keeps coming back. The alternative is long term antibiotics and then your biome is gonna be shot and you'll get sick from basically anything.
Also for reference mouth swabs are false negatives 25-45 percent of the time with candida.
I have had incredible success with zuma nutritions products. I used the candida cleanse along with gut rebuild. But if you had this for a long time you're going to want to follow their pdf to the T. Which says 90 days. But understanding why your body can't regulate the normal yeasts in your body is the key. Do have and history of serious skin infections or immune deficiency? Been on hard medication? Also their lymphatic cleanse is some that is super important to keep it away. Every time it comes back your lymph systems gets bigger down more and more by the inflammation and toxins. So getting that as good as you can is key to it staying away. A great way to think about this is. When you perform physical activity how easy is it for you to sweat. For me it's always been very hard. I have to have almost maximum exertion in order to sweat. If this sounds like you then fix that lymph system.
I'd doesn't have to be an infection. We all have small amounts of candida. Everyone. Some of us have different strains that are more virulent. I just happen to have a lower immunity in my lymphatic system to keep in check. My circumstances are very unique. 37 years old, very good shape, not over weight, eat well and exercise daily. I'm actually a personal trainer. But like all people I enjoy a drink here and there and eating out from time to time. These things are what tip the balance in favor of the yeast getting out of control. My body has little ability to fight back. For reference I was completely free of it last November. But when i went of supplements and probiotics all it took was a basketball game and 3 beers and it slowly crept back to full blown attack mode over the last 5 weeks. That game was April 2nd. Like most of us I'm super obsessive when it comes to this. It's taken me years to figure this out.
I'm waiting to get in but I finally put all the pieces together. Now obviously I'm going to consult with them soon as I get in. I'm waiting on the one in Minnesota but I hear the one in Arizona is the one to go to if you're absolutely desperate with digestive conditions. I'm sorry brother. Don't give up. Continue to fight and be positive. Remember understanding why you get this or have this is the key.
You mentioned that you are at Mayo currently getting treatment. Is that Mayo in Jacksonville? Who are you seeing? I’m desperately seeking a physician ay Mayo Jax who treats candidiasis.
