Can SVT cause passing out and being unresponsive for over an hour?

Posted by gram0322 @gram0322, 3 days ago

My husband has had 4 episodes of passing out and being unresponsive for extended periods of time. Seizures have been ruled out. During one admission after an episode he wore a heart monitor and the cardiologist said it could be SVT, although he did not pass out while wearing the monitor. The last episode was this passed January. No one can give us a definitive answer. Has anyone else experienced this?

A couple of weeks after my second ablation a few years ago I was sitting having coffee in the morning and blacked out and toppled to the floor, came to right away but I was having SVT. At that point I self converted but it kept happening so they did another ablation (I ended up having 4!) Now I am on daily meds to keep the SVT at bay, otherwise I have to go to ER to be converted, won’t convert back to sinus rhythm on its own anymore. HR gets up to 250, crazy. I don’t know why your husband is staying unconscious so long but does sound like more than your regular SVT episode. I hope you get some answers soon!!

Here is what Dr Google says it could be:
Syncope: A sudden loss of blood supply to the brain, which can be caused by heart problems or blood pressure issues
Psychogenic blackouts: Caused by stress or anxiety, and are more common in young adults
Low blood sugar: Also known as hypoglycemia, severe low blood sugar can cause fainting
Dehydration: Can contribute to fainting
Seizures
Epileptic seizures: An electrical "short-circuiting" in the brain that's usually called a seizure
Head injuries
Concussions: A type of traumatic brain injury (TBI) that can cause an immediate loss of alertness or awareness
Other causes
Arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm)
Heart disease
Blood vessel problems in the brain
Drug or alcohol use
Anemia (a deficiency in healthy oxygen-carrying cells)
Nutrient deficiencies
Scratch off all that you know do not pertainand examine the rest. When the docs don't know, Need to put on your thinking cap and pray for answers.
