Can someone be a carrier of measles if they have been vaccinated?

We have friends coming from Alberta. They have all been vaccinated for measles. Is it possible for them to be carriers of the disease?

@kfmgm Measles are unlike some other infections (e.g. tuberculosis) where you can silently carry and spread the disease without symptoms. If they do not have an active case of measles, they are not contagious.

A vaccinated person can expose others to the measles virus IF they get a breakthrough case of measles (ie for some reason they did not gain enough antibodies from the vaccine) AND IF you are exposed to them in the period from 4 days before their rash appears until four days after it begins.

You are just as likely to to expose them as they are to expose you.

Are you concerned because there are measles in their community or because they are travelling?
