Can Reclast be Lowered dose?
I will be getting Reclast very soon as I am a Gastric Bypass Patient and I need to relay off of 1 Prolia. My body is very sensitive to a lot of meds put into it. I asked my Dr to give me Half Dose Reclast to see how my body will respond. He said the only way he will do it is if he sees it in Black and White, otherwise it is fraud. Does anyone have any info on lower dose? Please I’m so worried.I should have had Reclast on Aug 12th. I’m overdue for because my CTX is only 89. Hope someone has any information on lower dose or proof. Thanks a Million 😊

@windyshores I am now off of Eventity after 10 injection series. I start Recast in a week at 2. 5 instead of 5. My endocrinologist was happy to do this. I'm hoping for few side effects. Eventity was miserable for me- the whole time.

1 Reaction@miznancy It sounds as if you have a good endocrinologist willing to revise the traditional dosage for you. Many of us are questioning the standard dosages. My hope is that enough of us questioning standard dosages (one size fits all) will be heard by the doctors we see.

2 Reactions@prarysky My husband is a retired physician who agrees that so much of medicine is “cookie cutter” medicine where it is inflexible and one size fits all. Pharmaceutical companies have too much influence also. It is imperative that we all be our OWN advocate. Keep in mind that doctors are now so tied up with using digital records instead of making notes. Medicare reduces payments to those who don’t comply My brother is a doctor and he just took the reduced payments because he is a true physician. Insurance requires an immense amount of time and employee hours. In other words , medical care is not working. Don’t hesitate to question, insist, present reputable studies, and change doctors if you don’t get the help and understanding that you deserve. All the best to all of us

Choices for dosage, in many areas of medicine, if not all, are very important..people are different in so very many ways ! Sometimes, one can use a pill splitter, but not for all meds…;I have read that the generic for Fosamax comes in different sizes…that could help some people…some people don’t inject the whole dose of injectables….chemo is often adjusted as one goes along…the more of us who advocate for dosage reductions, the better for all.
