Can I use Symbicort instead of Salbutamol prior to nebbing?
Since I am currently on Symbicort for untreated asthma symptoms I am wondering if I can replace my Salbutamol prior to nebbing with the Symbicort instead? Well this is what I have started doing, and I am just confirming that it is ok...since it has a reliever/airway opener in it too.
I was on Symbicort 2 puffs twice a day for 3 weeks, have just cut it down to 2 puffs once a day as potentially an ongoing treatment. Hopefully that will address any untreated asthma elements without causing too much other damage. I plan to get someone qualified to oversee this protocol when I get home in a month or two. Thank you for any input 🙏

@narelled23 That is what my pulmonologist instructed me to do. She said to wait 15 minutes between the inhaler and neb. The only exception- if I have an exacerbation, I am to use the Symbicort followed by budesonide neb, then saline. I am to add a levalbuterol before saline if still wheezing/short of breath after the Symbicort.
Do you have a qualified doc you can consult virtually about what you describe?
Thank you, Sue.
I feel pretty confident that that would be ok for me to do. Take Symbicort wait 15 mins, nebb...add Salbutamol if I have any wheezing or sob.
Difficult to find doctors who are sufficiently across this condition, but I will try to have my symptoms reassessed in a couple of months when I get back to Perth.
Thank you, Sue 🙏
