Can Crohn's Disease be misdiagnosed as EPI?
I was diagnosed with EPI a little over two years ago and put on PERT (Creon 36000 capsules). I have taken my Creon twice a day, two capsules twice daily, and been able to fairly well manage my condition. I noticed pretty early on that I was almost always constantly bloated and had extremely bad, foul smelling, gas. A few months ago I began to notice that my symptoms had all but gone away. I stopped taking my medicine, foolishly or not, without any resulting digestive problems.
I have recently begun to have symptoms again. I am experiencing abdominal pain/cramps and severe diarrhea, especially right after I eat. I have started taking my Creon again and have even started taking it with each meal. So far my symptoms have not gotten any better.
I've been wondering if my condition is along the lines of Crohn's Disease since I went for months without any problems and suddenly I'm having symptoms again. I've done some reading and have seen that Crohn's and EPI are very similar. Has anyone had an experience with having Crohn's misdiagnosed as EPI? Can Crohn's develop as a result of EPI?

Hi, @psnead. It is nice to meet you!
I am tagging @geegeebabe and @slkanowitz because they have mentioned being familiar with both Chron’s and EPI. I hope they can offer some insight as to the overlap between the two, how possible it may be that you actually have Crohn’s and not EPI.
Do you plan to ask your doctor if you may actually have Chron’s?
