Buzzing in ears

Posted by Eileen @stomprud, Aug 3, 2016

I have a constant buzzing in my ears. Some say it is from anti-inflammatory medications, however I do not find that to be always true for me. Anyone else have this issue?

i have what I call. A roar. I have 50% hearing loss and waited to late to now have damage and Tinnitus. I find the hearing aids do silence the tinnitus 99%. The problem Is I still have to have the noise of a fan at bedtime. And I have to have at least one hearing aid in to hear the fan.

Hi @stomprud, welcome to Connect! Are you able to tell me a little bit more about what you're experiencing? Have there been any other symptoms along with the buzzing? Have you checked the side-effect lists for the specific medications you're on to see if ear buzzing is on there?

My medication does not tell me that it would cause buzzing in my ear.

I go to an ENT every 90 days for some kind of a deep ear cleaning, That helps. $30 go-pay.

I have had tinnitus (ringing in the ears) since I was 17 (56 now). But I just started a round of Toradol (anti-inflammatory) to help out with costochondritis and I've noticed it has caused a dramatic increase in the volume of the buzzing in my ears. Fortunately Toradol is a short-term med and I'm hoping things will calm back down once I'm off it. But it might not - and that is okay too. I know my brain will "tune it out" eventually.
