How are you managing Brukinsa side effects?

Posted by sveta25 @sveta25, Feb 6 12:35pm

My husband is taking Brukinsa for 3 weeks now and so far so good, no bad side affects, WBC is lower but so are platelets so minor bruising and also constipation.
Any comments on using it longer than that ?

I’ve been on ZANUBRUTINIB (now Brukinsa) for almost nine years. Minimal side effects.

@minnesotajim
Nine years? I didn't think it has been around that long.

Clinical trial at Mayo to determine efficacy. Trial has continued to see how long it remains effective and to track side effects over time. Started six patients; I’m the only one still on that trial.

I’m so happy to hear that Brukinsa has been effective with no side effects for 9 years ! My partner diagnosed with CLL has been taking it for 2 years and is doing great.

The platelets will go down
WBC will go up
After a few months the numbers will get better
My platelets went down to 80
After six months up to 125
WBC went to 145
After 7 months down to 20

I’ve experienced the same improving results with Brukinsa as well as the bruising. I’ve been on the medicine now for over a year and with the exception of the bruising nearly no side effects.

@champ9810 Thank you, that’s a great news. Are you taking Allopurinol with it?
