Breast nerve pain

Posted by Karen @fue, Mar 20, 2022

Has anyone NOT diagnosed with breast cancer had nerve pain in outer breast near armpits?

Hello @fue. You may want to look into the symptoms of pleurisy to see if those symptoms sound familiar.

I wonder how long you've been experiencing this pain?

Hi Amanda
Thank you for your reply and suggestion. I have had neuropathy for approximately 10 years. I have recently been having muscle twitches in my torso and assumed it was probably a natural if scary progression. When I hurt my leg, for example, I get referred nerve pain in my torso anyway. But nerve pain on outer breast was a new pain that lasted a couple of days. I think it is unlikely that I have pleurisy after checking symptoms.
I really appreciate that you are there to answer our questions.

Good morning @fue! I have had breast pain, radiating out to my armpit as well. My doctor ordered a mammogram and breast ultrasound. Everything came back perfect. She ruled out cancer, cysts, or enlarged lymph nodes in the surrounding area. It's non-cyclical and not related to exercise or injury. Just a very tender area, with no explanation. I was told it's tender breast tissue and not to worry about it. But it's not going away either and we're heading into month 3 of this.,,

Hi @eastcoastamy
Thank you. Luckily I only experienced it for a couple of days. Hopefully it won't return. I get a lot of wierd symptoms but they seem to come and go. Hopefully that one won't return. Take care. X

This bring back memories. At least 20 years ago, maybe 30, I had intense chronic itching in one of my breasts. This was long before I had other neuropathy symptoms - life was normal. But I was also on Tegretol for seizures (see my other note about Tegretol). I say 20-30 years, because intermingled with this were many dermatologist visits related to scalp itching. And chronic tongue burning and soreness. I took strong a anti fungal (Voriconazole) for at least 10 years. All these things are mixed up in my memories now, but if I took time to untangle them, I’m sure I would find unknown neuropathy as the common thread.
