Brand Name Cymbalta by Eli Lilly is being discontinued!

Posted by rockerjock79 @rockerjock79, Dec 16, 2024

I am seriously overwhelmed and scared. I just found out online that Cymbalta (brand name from Eli Lilly) is being discontinued worldwide. I called Eli Lilly customer service and they stated that it is discontinued. Whatever allotment is left with be distributed and that is it. I have tried the generic versions of Cymbalta along with other medications, such as Fetzima, Zoloft, Trintellix, Pristiq, Wellbutrin…none of them helped at all. I actually went into withdrawal in 2014 and 2016 when my health insurance wouldn’t cover the brand name Cymbalta, while having to take the generic duloxetine. It does not work the same, especially if you’ve been on the brand name first. I’ve contacted the FDA many times, and they could care less. There’s many articles out there that stated how many people have had issues with the generic version of Cymbalta. I currently Called the FDA to see if they could reach out to Eli Lilly for those of us who currently take Cymbalta. I have been on it now for almost 18 years, even emailing the CEO with no response from the company. Obviously they don’t care. They made their money over the last 20 off of the medication and now they have new medication to make more money off of. I literally have been getting severe panic attacks over this and I know when I’m not on the brand name, I will end up in the hospital or dead, and nobody is listening! What more can I do to change this? I feel like I’m planning my own funeral in my head, and none of these corporate people that make these decision could care less. The only med that works for me is being discontinued and I feel like my days are numbered. Never been this scared in my life.

crodymaryann, it's so difficult to compose these comments when you are in pain. Thank you for your response. Your feet might feel better if you used otc lidocaine patches. I hope you can find resolution for the migraine, twenty years is too long.

Are you on anti depresents for your depression? If not, I take Nortyptiline for depression and it also works for pain. I get from my psychiatrist who also gives me Valium, but is trying to ween me off of it because they don't like benzos anymore. Also see a pain specialist.

Yeah I have too keep an eye on my kindle. The spell check is crazy. I have used lidocaine patches before but they have only worked for acute injuries. I am 70 so I won't be falling down any mountains . although I would like to try back packing but I just have too much pain and mostly am not taken seriously so I cannot even do a good job of condituoning. Cymbal at was a godsend. My daughter committed suicide and I found her body after about a year it was clear I might always need it to get over what happened it would be a long term effort if ever. So that's why I was on cymbal at so long. I just found out it was discontinued globally along with full it one not that dull it one worked.the pain relief was a wonderful side effect.and I don't like the person I am becoming and I cry. Often about victoria

Full it one we s taken off the market because they found a carcinogen in it. My guess is that lily took cymbal at off the market because they didn't want to be associated with that and risk a lawsuit . but I agree with you mostly Lilly don't care

will you try the oddly named Drizalma Sprinkle.
My experience of grief is like yours. But I don't ever want to go back packing. And I think something has to be done about your physical pain. Have you been seen at a pain clinic.
They have so many tricks to circumvent the pain. One is sure to help at least a little.
I'm very sorry about your dear Victoria, bless her soul.

You suffer from a lot more than depression. Find an SSRI that works for you and take care of your body.
Exercise is a great antidepressant and it is free. Combine it with the right SSRI and your problems are solved.
Depression is like alcoholism. Once an alcoholic always an alcoholic. That’s why you have meetings and a sponsor. Depression doesn’t just go away one day and never come back. If that is the case with anyone reading this post you really don’t suffer from depression.
As far as side effects show me a drug on the market that doesn’t have any and I will show you a placebo.
Really people stop complaining and do something. Medications are there to treat true depression. Just find one that is right for you. As far as side effects they normally go away in a few weeks. If not find another medication that works better for you.
