Long COVID: What bloodwork and vitamin/supplement recommendations?
My daughter has debilitating fatigue as well as other symptoms (including but not limited to brain fog, cognitive issues, sudden onset nerve pain in feet, cough, shortness of breath). She's looking for non-western medical advice in addition to traditional. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated?
Two part question:
1) What blood tests do you recommend requesting for LC?
In addition to CBC, my thought was vitamin panel, ferritin bloodwork, CRP. Any others?
2) What supplements / herbs, etc. have been helpful?
All B vitamins, Vitamin D, Turmeric, Quercetin, NAC (not sure that that is, but read it in a posting), Magnesium, Zinc.
Thank you!

Worth a try. Nothing else has worked
I am curious to hear anyone's positive, negative, or neutral experiences with the following for their LONG Covid / Post-infectious syndrome treatment plan: Nattokinase, CoQ10, NADH, ALCAR, Vitamin C, Magnesium Glycinate. I've had these recommended by several providers, but no strong commitment to the best approach for benefits. There is limited information on short or long-term risks with these supplements. Thoughts?

1 ReactionI have long haul covid since Nov 2020. I lost my sense of smell/taste..but,gradually coming back. I have a loud high pitch buzz in my head. My past doctor recommended a hearing test. I hear very well. Hopefully my new doctor will
help me. I also smell a burning electrical wires, first time it was gas,I had the gas company check and they said no leaks. That's when I knew it was from covid.

1 ReactionI tried all of the supplements but the only thing to make a substantial difference for me was Low Dose Naltrexone. It is a prescription drug that is formulated into a liquid...it does not taste bad and I had few side effects...most cleared up within two weeks. It does give me insomnia if I take it at night so I take it in the morning...and it did give me quite vivid dreams (not nightmares) for the first two weeks. Now I am relatively pain free, have more energy, and shortness of breath and nerve pain are pretty well gone. I has some relief at one month, more at two months and significant relief when I titrated up to 4.5 mg at about 6 months.
So glad to hear someone from the Mayo Clinic actually looks at these even though Mayo does not respond clinically which would be helpful.

1 ReactionNATTO certainly gave me a buzz and some energy. The only supplement I've had consistent results is creatine which gives me some hours in the morning I'm in the usual collapse in the afternoon and evening.
My water arobics teacher does Eastern medicine and suggested i try this for my muscle and joint pain inflammation....1 tsp of ground ginger, juice of a 1/2 of a fresh lemon, squirt of honey in a glass of water...this has really helped me..every morning! Maybe it will help you too...

High doses of ginger can result in diarrhea or gastrointestinal discomfort.
Ginger causes problems if you have gallstones and interact with certain medications, such as blood thinners and diabetes drugs. Ginger itself is a blood thinner. Can you try it every other day?
Excessive consumption can cause mouth irritation or a burning sensation. I put some ginger in food I prepare but smaller amounts. I walk in the house 3 X daily, 15 or close to it per set.
