Bisphosphonates before teriparatide

Is there anyone here who was on a bisphosphonate before switching to a teriparatide medication, and if so, how did it affect your gains?

The science says that anabolics are less effective if you've been on antiresorptives.

I did over five years on alendronate before starting on anabolic medications. I was on Tymlos and teraparatide briefly before doing a year on Evenity. It apparently didn’t impact my gains much as I went from -2.2 to -1.5 in my lumbar spine. My hips barely changed but they haven’t in years.

@oopsiedaisy thank-you. I'm so glad it helped.

I was on alendronate for 3.5 years before switching to generic teriparatide/Forteo (on both depending on what my insurance formulary covered). I went from -3.8 in spine to -3.5, a 4.6% increase. I was hoping for better. No change in left total hip (-2.2) or left femoral neck (-2.6) I'll never know what the results would have been had I not taken alendronate first, but the studies indicate I would have seen more improvement than I did. Since my spine score is still pretty low I want to try Evenity next.

@cat1203 I'm sorry you had such poor results. It's a lot to go through if you don't see big gains. I hope Evenity works for you.
