Barrett’s esophagus

Posted by jvanstratten @jvanstratten, Mar 22, 2018

Looking for info and help with Barret’s esophagus. I can’t figure out just how serious this is. I have read way too much online! I don’t really know how strict my diet really has to be. It is really stressful-. Does anyone here have it? And exactly how serious is it?

I have Barrett’s esophagus too. I’ve had 4 RFA’s. So far so good, I’m on 40mg of Omeprazole a day. My problem was gerd after lying down in bed on a full stomach. It was terrible. Other than dieting I suggest NOT to go to bed on a full stomach. I eat at least 3hrs before bed and never on a full stomach. Hope this helps.

I have BE with high dysplasia. I have had two ablations and I am scheduled for my next endoscopy in Feb.
I am on 40 mgs of omeprazole, twice a day. That has alleviated any GERD I was having. I have cut out coffee and other acidic foods. Hopefully, the actions taken will prevent things from progressing.

I have BE but can’t take PPIs or H2 Blockers. I’ve developed a cough. How do I treat it?

I have the cough also. And I do take Nexium twice a day. It does nothing for the cough at all. I even wheeze when I exhale I also have short segment Barrett’s. I drink throat coat tea when I get up and one before bed. I also chew sugarless gum. It helps somewhat

It was tough for me to stop coffee as well. The headaches do go away after a day or two. The key for me was getting a variety of herbal teas and using those as my morning beverage. I have grown to really enjoy different herbal teas. It is also important to stay hydrated, so I make sure I am drinking lots of water, and probably grabbing water where I would have been getting a coffee. I hope this helps.

I find that mixing a 50-50 mix of real lemon juice and honey helps with my cough, I warm the mix to about a “sipping” temperature in the microwave. It’s not a cure but does help me stop some. Good luck hope this helps some. I can’t quit coffee either I use honey in it..

I changed from drinking hot coffee to a iced coffee. Hot coffee made me reflux too much. But for some reason iced coffee isn’t as bad I might give the lemon and honey a try. Thank you

I too have acid reflux and coffee drinker for many many years. Was very difficult to not have that morning Brew. I tried decaf still had gerd symptoms. I did finally come upon French chicory hot drink. Looks like coffee almost tastes like coffee and I really am enjoying it now I put some creamer and a little honey in it. So I look forward to that in the morning. I am totally caffeine free. Try the chicory coffee at amazon.com. I hope that works for you.

I should also say that I too had headaches after tapering off caffeine. There again I went to Amazon and got there ice hats. It's a hat with blocks of ice in it and it really helps the headache. You should ask about 20 minutes or half hour and by then my headache is a lot less severe if not gone. Hope this works for you.
