Even though you are frustrated with delay, your provider is looking out for your best interest. I suggest you use the time to continue to make lifestyle changes with diet and exercise so you are in best condition you can be in prior to surgery.
If you have a history of seizures, are you under the care of a neurologist? If so, have you talked to the neurologist about risk of this type of surgery given you current condition?

1 ReactionI was getting excited and wanted to have the surgery, then I went to one of my doctor appointments and that doctor told me that it would be at least 6 more months before I could do it because of the fact I have a seizure from time to time, not a serious type of seizure, I might be out of it for about 3-4 minutes then I am coming totally out of it. Plus if I am under antithetics it should not happen at all, it makes me so frustrated that I do not even want to go back for my appointments. not sure what to do..
I’m still thinking about which route is best for me.
Actually is is April of 2024!
I had hernia repair and gastric bypass surgery, both in one operation, in April of 2023. I was questioning my decision as well… turns out it was clearly the right decision for me - hands down. I feel really good, I have plenty of energy and I have lost a significant amount of weight. I’m at the gym regularly and have found my new “way of life” to be fairly simple, nourishing and satisfying.

Welcome to Mayo Connect, I think most people get anxiety before any major surgery. I remember thinking right before my RNY surgery that I had lost weight before surgery, so maybe I can do on my own, Then realized that I was never successful before, so I was making right decision. I also have had Breast Cancer, and had same anxiety before surgery, did I made right decision about type of surgery. If you have done all the pre-surgery work, you should be ready.
Seeing you need a hernia repaired, sounds like you will need surgery even if do not bypass.
Is there any specific concern you have?
