Autoimmune disease and thrombocytopenia
Hello, I am reaching out to see if anyone else has experience with an autoimmune disease that includes thrombocytopenia. I’m 5’ 4” - 115 lbs and 56 years old. I’ve been an avid athlete all my life and eat a very well-balanced diet. At age 49 I had a heart attack. It seems my blood is either too thin or too thick and my trigger is a change in the weather or stress. I’ve never been able to tolerate birth-control/estrogen. I have three children. My hormones have reached havoc on me throughout the years. I have regular visits to the oncologist for bloodwork to Monitor my platelet count. I believe my father now passed on at age 92 had an autoimmune disease. I wish to discover more for my children and what more I can do as I age. One of my daughters has epilepsy. We finally better understand my issues and how to treat and I’m happy to say I’m extremely healthy and feel terrific.
Is there any new information on auto immune disease and thrombocytopenia and what I need to do to manage my health as I age?

Ollie did not get to come home today -- could not pass the 1-1/2 hour "test" in car seat. He made it to 45 minutes and then got restless and started crying -- they were told that it affected his breathing, so he is still at the hospital and we'll see what tomorrow brings.
Not today. . .maybe tomorrow.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed for a great car adventure tomorrow!
Thanks -- I can't wait to see him and hopefully that will be today!
Hi @marymanning,
As you have not posted the past few days can I assume that Ollie is home now? I hope that your daughter is recovering well from her C-section.
Can you post an update at your convenience?
Ollie came home on Wednesday and is doing fine. He was having trouble passing the car seat requirements (90 minutes) for breathing. He dropped 5 ounces on his weight, but has picked 2 back up. He is a really good eater and is a quiet baby. Katie is walking much better -- had doctor's appointment yesterday and was told her stitches are healing fine. The pediatrician told Katie that Ollie shows no platelet level problems and is healthy. (God listened to our prayers and brought Katie and Ollie safely through delivery.) Thank you for your concerns and thoughts.
Great news, @marymanning! I wish all of you the best.
Thanks -- he's a real sweetie and being loved by his big brother and sister!!!
@marymanning,
How wonderful! The new brother of the family is being well-welcomed and that is great. Thank you for sharing this happy ending to a rather stressful pregnancy and delivery. It's always good to hear from you.
Thank you for the concern you showed to a very stressful time in our lives.
