ASPERGILLUS FUMIGATU IgE Blood Test

I’ve started with a new pulmonologist and he ordered some bloodwork . The results are showing Aspergillus Fumigatu IgE “ abnormal , class2”. I also had a new chest CT, and waiting for those results .
Anyone have any experience with this blood test, or diagnosis ? Does it indicate an ABPA diagnosis ?

@macentee22 Oh my, I'm having a little trouble with all of the abbreviations, let me see if I understand. Oh, and I'm not a medical pro of any kind - just someone who has been through the whole treatment, and spent a lot of time here and elsewhere learning about MAC and all that goes with it.

You wonder why some doctors only prescribe antibiotics for 12 months, but your doctor wants you to take them for 24 months?

If you are speaking about Mycobacteria Avium Complex (MAC), the accepted treatment protocol for MAC is to take the antibiotics until the infection clears, then continue to take them for 6-12 months more to be sure it is gone. (Frequent sputum cultures are used to gauge progress in clearing the infection.) But not everyone with MAC needs to take antibiotics. Are you considering starting antibiotic therapy? Are you seeing an advancement in symptoms or severity that is leasing to this decision now?

The topic of this particular discussion is actually aspergillus (a mold) which has a whole different treatment plan.

@sueinmn Hello Sue, thank you for the video presentation. I watched it along with the drug treatment video so far. Both very good. I’m a former drug rep so these are right up my alley. While my drs gave me the “shorthand” version of these videos, I prefer the long version with data, slides, and decision trees. Because I have many other comorbidities, my drs need to look at the whole patient, which is what I appreciated in this video. National Jewish Hospital was a well respected resource for the Allergists/Pulmonologists whom I called on. Didn’t know these videos existed—so thank you again.
