ASCO meeting 2024 May 31: Free online for patient advocates

Posted by cindyc @cindysummit, May 16 7:31pm

Hi everyone,

Recuperating from Gallbladder Surgery that I had today. Very tired but okay...

Just wanted to share this if you had not seen it. The Annual ASCO meeting is coming up this month. It is free online for Patient Advocates. The info for registration is included.

I wrote an extensive enail to this individual:

Nicole Rainey
Specialist, Patient Advocacy
American Society of Clinical Oncology
2318 Mill Road, Suite 800
Alexandria, VA 22314
+1 571-483-1426 • nicole.rainey@asco.or

I decribed myself and what I have done as a Patient Advocate. I wrote a lot because last year, I was not permitted to attend. If you take this route, give details and be specific. It is okay to brag a bit! 💪

The Link to register :

Hope you are all doing well.

Waiting for warmer and sunnier spring weather to come to N.J.🌻🌞

Hi Cindy,
Thank you for posting this information. Allow me to expand some of the details. The Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is considered the premier educational and scientific event in the oncology community. The 2024 ASCO Annual Meeting will take place:
McCormick Place in Chicago and online
May 31-June 4

ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) is a huge annual meeting - a must attend for anyone working in oncology. At ASCO many new treatments and advancing science are revealed and discussed.

The Conquer Cancer Patient Advocate Scholarship Program provides a limited number of scholarships for patient advocates to attend the ASCO Annual Meeting to learn of important advances in their areas of interest. Scholarships help cover travel, hotel, and registration expenses and are based primarily on financial need, advocacy experience, and current advocacy activities and involvement.

The application period for a scholarship to attend the 2024 ASCO Annual Meeting has now closed.

The application for the 2025 ASCO Annual Meeting will open in March 2025.
For questions or additional information, please contact patientadvocates@asco.org.

Large medical conferences increasingly include the voice of the patient. The value that patients add to these conferences is incalcuable.

Yes, thanks Colleen. I am in this year and looking forward to the sessions.

The Rare Cancer Research Foundation will be their, too. I have a stake here because my cancer is quite rare.

A question for you. Do most Oncologists and Urologists and other cancer nurses and doctors attend? Do they come from all over the world? Can I assume my doctors will be there?

Cindy, I'm excited for you that you were chosen as a patient advocate. I look forward to hearing about your experience.

ASCO is one of the largest oncology conferences and very well attended by delegates from around the world. Here is some meeting statistics and demographic information for the 2023 Annual Meeting. https://conferences.asco.org/am/meeting-demographics

Obviously not everyone goes as patient care at home also continues.

Ahhh...yes, thanks.

I can't make it in person this year due to my recent surgery, but online, yes. Hopefully, one day in person. I am excited, too.

Thanks.
