This was talked about for couple of years now and it seems that hypothesis proved to be correct.

GLP-1 can reduce muscle mass and the elderly susceptible to frailty may want to take that into account.

1 Reaction@thmssllvn Nothing special about GLP1. Any diet will cause muscle mass loss if it is not countered with resistance exercise and other muscle building actions. On a diet it is always use it or lose it. If you do not have enough to eat the body goes to break down muscle for nourishment. That provides necessary calories while reducing the base calorie requirement much more than burning fat.
@jim18
That is correct !
Same goes for ADT drugs and even statins.
All of that is preventable with regular exercise and adequate protein amount in one's diet.

"However, they still do not know what causes Insulin resistance (cells not responding to insulin to take in glucose) which is the basis for type 2 diabetes."
They actually know how and why disruption happens, they just do not know how to reverse it and unfortunately it seems that it is non- reversible. Once receptors are damaged, they can not be completely repaired.
People change lifestyle and diet etc and they have better A1C and better fasting sugar but that is BECAUSE they made so many changes that their metabolic picture looks better and that is wonderful but their resistance is still there. Person without resistance can eat whatever he/she wants and not move an inch and fasting glucose will be 85.
