I feel that at times my insomnia is caused by anxiety.Since I am already taking temazepam (weaning off of it)I am pretty sure my doctor is not going to prescribe any anti anxiety medication for me.So i am grasping at the straws hereeee somewhat. I can order Gaba on line.Do you think its worth trying?

I wouldn't chance ordering any medication online. There are so many that operate illegally. The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) estimates that only about 5% of online pharmacies comply with U.S. pharmacy laws.
Why order it online, why not buy it at a reputable pharmacy here?
If you decide to take it or any other supplement, I hope you will inform your doctor for safety reasons.

GABA is a supplement, not a prescription med.
It's available everywhere supplements are sold.
Target even stocks a GABA gummy called "Goodbye Stress".

I've used GABA in various forms for years. Takes the edge off a bit.

Sometimes it is hard to tell if anxiety contributes to insomnia, or lack of sleep is causing you to be anxious during day. I know if I do not get a good night sleep, my mood is terrible the next day.

Sometime you need both an anti-anxiety med and a sleeping medication. No one wants to take one more medication, but if that is what it takes to feel better. If you try any non-prescription meds, make sure you inform your provider.

Have you tried any other sleep or anti-anxiety medications?

thanks for all the replies.
Problem with me is that i live in very small town and supply for any alternative "medication"

Will try small supply of Gaba and see it it helps any at all.

I am on Restoril which I am trying to wean off of.

For a couple years I had good results with Source Naturals Gaba Calm peppermint lozenge. Look up Trudy Scott’s website everywomanover29.com She has a lot of good information there.
I also had insomnia and anxiety for several years and am thankful that my body is now mostly back in balance. Also, Ashwagandha by Organic India was helpful.

Were you on serious psych meds?

never, unless you think restoril qualifies. Actually am hardly on any medications now but insomnia and anxiety is bothersome. Also on Betahistamine for vertigo which is now more or less under control.

If you mean Gabapentin I don't think it'll work at all for depression and anxiety. I have been taking it for several years for neuropathy and nerve pain. I also have depression and anxiety I'm taking Effexor as an antidepressant, and I don't think it's working at all.
