Are there older women with bladder retention, any meds for it

I've struggled with fluid retention for too many years to admit. Just lived with it. I'm 66 n saw a urologist who insists immediately on a bladder pacemaker. Mayo suggests trying at least 2 medications without success before going that route. He didn't even mention medications and jumped to the pacemaker. Has anyone had luck with medications?

I am taking Oxybutinine once a day for urine retention and it has helped a lot.

What about bladder leaking with no known etiology?

I have found Botox injections to work very well.

Make sure you are not at all constipated. My doctor put me on Magnesium Oxide for that.

I am having the same issue at night with leaking when I turn over or get out of bed. Started wearing pads, but it is strange. I had a bout of constipation for about six weeks before this and got that alleviated. Slow flow, too. I never have had this problem, even after two children. I had a CT that showed nothing. Guess it is time for a trip to the urologist.
