Anyone participate in SilverSneakers?
When I became disabled, I got a Medicare Advantage plan that came with a SilverSneakers membership.
I've found the online classes very helpful. For one thing, they give me "someplace to go" without leaving my house.
I got so involved, they interviewed me back in April as part of their "SilverSneakers Live" series.
(Great face for radio, right?)
Anyway, does anyone else participate?

Membership came with my Medicare Advantage plan. I don't know how an individual would participate.
Anyone know?
Thank you @scottrl ! I discovered that my traditional Medicare gap plan might cover silver and fit. I never heard of that before. They are trying to see if my current gap policy covers. Nevertheless, terrific information on facebook and youtube about silver and fit. Just what I need when I can't make it to 125 Live Center for Active Adults here in Rochester, Minnesota.
1 - I would call your health insurance, most advantage insurances offer it.
I have Humana.
Or 2 - go on line and type Silver Sneakers and see if you qualify by age or other means. I’ll also look up and see. Blessings. Ubelinda
Yes! Its wonderful. I highly recommend it.
People remember you do not need an Advantage Plan to have Silver Sneakers as a benefit. It can be offered by any insurance plan. My BCBS Medigap Plan provides it.
People must be very careful when selecting insurance. Be aware that Advantage plans "seem cheaper" and offer extra "benefits" BUT THAT COMES AT A BIG SACRIFICE. You cannot self-refer to a specialist. You must stay within their network of doctors/hospitals, or you will pay $$$$. And their network will not necessarily have the expertise you need or offer the most solutions. Even if you live in a big city, that big clinic down the road may not have what you should get and only offer something less!!! Many places now don't take Advantage patients. Read how other patients on Connect are waiting for insurance approval for a critical test or cancer treatment.
And if you start out with an Advantage Plan and then develop health issues and want to change to original Medicare and get a Medigap policy, THEY DON'T HAVE TO ACCEPT YOU ANYMORE!
Also check with gyms, they can have reduced membership.
