Anyone on amphetamine and dextroamphetamine?

He's on this for depression/anxiety?

My son is on this combination of medications also. And to be truthful I don't like either medication.
When he was in college, in his senior year, under lots of pressure and stress he managed to see a psychologist who diagnosed him with ADD. This was a young man who excelled throughout all his school years and at the top of his class, which made no sense to me. However, he was given Adderall which, I believe without a doubt, he abused to get him through his last semester. Adderall is highly abused on college campuses. He is now 38 and due to a stressful work incident is back on these stimulants due to lack of focus and motivation - as diagnosed again by a psychiatrist now. I see absolutely no improvement in him. Unless managing to get out of bed and work is the improvement. He does nothing else. Says he will do things and never does anything at all. Coming to visit me via flights he never can even get to the airport on time. And misses his flights all the time. So he will say he is coming to see me, say the 20th, and actually shows up the 21st, 22nd or 23rd. Very frustrating for me. He can not be abusing it now...but I see this combination of prescribed medications doing nothing for him. Of course, he disagrees and there is no end point in sight for him to discontinue these medications. My sense is he is getting some sort of "kick" out of them and doesn't want to give them up. I have a good mind to discuss this with his psychiatrist but can not due to privacy laws. That's my take on these medications, hope your son is in a better situation. Good luck.
