Anyone in this group been on Tagrisso and have it stop working?

Posted by lmd1 @lmd1, Sep 13, 2023

I was diagnosed October 2022 with NSCLC EGFR mutation. I’ve been on Tagrisso since November 2022 and was doing great until my scans yesterday showed growth in my lung tumor. Having a biopsy to see if it has mutated again. Has anyone experienced this? Heartbroken and scared.

Has your Oncologist told you why they haven't addressed your lung tumor?

He thought Tagrisso would shrink it. He did not want to do surgery. The last visit when the ct showed growth he did say based on biopsy results we might consider radiation or chemotherapy while still taking Tagrisso. At the moment that is the only tumor I have. I had the brain tumor surgically removed and had 3 radiation treatments.

If you’re on Facebook, you can find groups with further discussion of these topics, e.g., “Tagrisso,” “LUNGevity,” and “EGFR Resisters,” to name a few.

Agree with the above. You can get a lot of information on osi "resistance" and recurrence from the EGFR Resisters group. And info/support questions like yours get a lot of responses on their facebook page. Just be concious that responders will have different stages, pre and post treatments, EGFR mutation variants, etc.

@lmd1, This news has to be so hard to hear. Deflating. Sorry, I'm not on Tagrisso, but I do take a different targeted therapy, that will eventually stop working for me too. It sounds like your oncologist is taking the appropriate steps in ordering a fresh biopsy and biomarker test, to see if there is a different therapy that may help. Do you have progression in just one area, or multiple areas? The Tagrisso may still be protecting other parts of your body, are you continuing to take it?

I’ve been on Tagrisso just three weeks and I find it very strong and I don’t like how it makes me feel…I’m on the 80Mg recommended dosage. I can’t find any info on the efficacy of the 40mg tablet….I have stage 1b and had a lobectomy no cancer at this time. I appreciate all of the comments…Stay strong

@mollie2 If you're experiencing discomfort after 3 weeks, I strongly recommend telling your Oncologist how you're feeling first thing tomorrow morning. Doctors know that every body is different and can usually offer alternatives or, depending on what your discomfort is, offer treatment options for the symptoms. Diarrhea is common, and Imodium worked for me and others. I was up to 2/day for a while. But that's me. See what your doctor thinks.

All the best to you. Tagrisso has been something of a wonder drug since it was introduced in 2017.
