Anyone in their 40s or younger with PMR?
I am currently 42, diagnosed when I was 40. I have since struggled with finding anyone near my age that has PMR. Even when looking up
information on PMR you will find mentions of the "earliest onset" around 50-55. So not only is it a rare thing to have but I have really struggled finding peers with PMR. I did the prednisone but gained too much weight for my liking. Failed methotrexate and for now I just live in pain. It is so hard to have an "invisible" illness and be out of the typical age range

Did the Pred stop the pain? At what dose did the pain come back after tapering? Are you seeing a rheumatologist? How long were you on Pred? Sorry for your situation.
Hello @mingham, Welcome to Connect. Sorry to hear Mr. Ugly got involved in your life at such a young age. I was 64 when my first round with PMR emerged. At 81, I've had two occurrences and hoping it stays in remission. Sadly, I know you are not alone having PMR under age 50. You might find the following discussions helpful:

Have you tried any lifestyle changes to help with the PMR?
35 years ago I was diagnosed with PMR. I was in my early 40s. I have seen 5 different rheumatologist over that time. Search for my user name and you will learn a lot. Prednisone has been a magic drug.
I was around 50 when I was diagnosed. And yes, it’s very hard to have an illness that is painful but invisible. Glad you’re here!
Hi Mingham, we feel your pain literally. Lol. I take 200 plaquenil (generic is Hydroxychloroquine)in am and pm. That with 4.5m pred in the AM greatly helps. I don't know how much prednisone they put you on to gain enough weight to quit, but I lost it when I started following the advice and diet from folks on this support group. Btw, I was 50. Now 54. Just got below 5mg this month. (I don't like pain. ;-)) You're in with a great group of people... age is just an annoying number!
