Is Tonnya already prescribed by doctors?

I think they say "sublingually" rather than "subliminally" to mean under the tongue... I fear I'd be on a lot more drugs if I could take them subliminally. Might reduce my prescription expenses considerably. I haven't tried cyclobenzaprine, but have taken low-dose Naltrexone at 4.5mg... obliterated my budget but did nothing for pain over a course of 3 months. Currently tizanidine and pregabalin at night, and duloxetine in the morning works best. That doesn't mean the symptoms all settle down, of course, different maladies flare-up from time to time (okay daily)... but I'm alive. I know my entire physical well-being would improve if I would just do the darned PT exercises, go for a walk and not succumb to chocolate cravings... but we all cope the best we can. I've been paying for Planet Fitness for about 5 years and been twice... I guess I'd better start stepping up to that, and I'll be better off. (Some days the THOUGHT of moving is painful!). Hang in there! Follow your doctor's advice and treatments and be honest with them about the results; together you'll find the best solution for you. Remember ... Nothing is perfect. Less pain is better than more pain even if we don't get all the way to "no" pain, fatigue, fog or flatulence... (whoopsie!)

Tonmya is a reformulated version of the drug cyclobenzaprine (aka Flexeril) that has been on the market for years as a muscle relaxant. It's available as a low cost generic. Tonmya is that same drug reformulated to a lower dose (2.5mg I think) and taken subliminally rather than as a pill you swallow. By reformulating the drug, the drug company can charge lots more money (approximately $250 per month.). When I have a fibro flare, I take a 5mg tablet of cyclobenzaprine (lowest dose available) before bed. I think it helps with sleep and pain.

An article by Pradeep Chopra, MD (a Harvard-trained pain medicine specialist with over 25 years of experience treating complex chronic pain and multisystem disorders) said: "In summary, sublingual cyclobenzaprine (Tonmya) is essentially a repackaged low‑dose formulation of cyclobenzaprine, marketed as a novel drug through its patented delivery system. Its pharmacokinetic differences are small, its clinical benefit is modest and comparable to existing oral formulations, and its unique adverse effects may outweigh the theoretical advantage of reduced metabolite formation. Clinicians should therefore critically evaluate manufacturer claims and consider whether simple, low‑dose oral cyclobenzaprine would provide equivalent benefit at far lower cost."

I also take low-dose Naltrexone which has helped me tremendously. It has to be purchased from a compounding pharmacy and isn't covered by insurance. You slowly work up to a maintenance dose of 4.5mg. There are very few side effects and it takes a few months on the maintenance dose to notice results.
