Anyone have anxiety relapse while on antidepressant?

Posted by yanks950 @yanks950, Jan 18 6:16pm

I have been on 90mg of cymbalta for a few years and have been doing well. About a month ago my anxiety came roaring back and it has been a battle since. I have a psych and last time I saw him I was feeling better but in the past week things have gotten worse again. Woke up today and had nausea and feeling sad.

Is this normal? Why is this happening?

yanks950, I think that sometimes the medication we use on a daily basis can stop working for us the way it used to do. It’s a very common problem with most medications, our bodies get used to the effects and just don’t help us the way they should, some doctors will try putting you on another drug to see if it’s beneficial or in some cases they might just add another drug to give it a boost, either way it’s very treatable. We sometimes have to try several medications until we get it right and that’s challenging at times especially when the symptoms come back but you will eventually find what’s best for you in time with the help of your doctor, good luck with that and hope it goes smoothly for you.

Sorry you are experiencing this. It has happened to me with two SSRIs. As the previous poster mentioned, sometimes the meds stop working and you have to increase your dose, switch to a new med or augment with a other med. Wishing you rapid recovery.

Ask your Doctor about combining Zoloft with Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin is not a good stand alone antidepressant but is very effective when combined with other SSRI’s.
About a year ago I dropped my dosage of Zoloft from 100mg to 50mg with no adverse effects.
Finding the right combination of antidepressants is so important. Hopefully you find a combination that works for you.
Good luck.
