Anyone have a hiatal hernia that leaned on your lungs?

Posted by SusanEllen66 @SusanEllen66, 1 day ago

I have very little oxygen levels and some tightness in my chest. I’ve had my heart checked. I’ve had my lungs x-rayed and my oxygen levels are low. I’m wondering if anybody has had a hernia that was leaning on their lungs that would affect their oxygen levels.

Thank you

Hi, so sorry for your suffering….i have a friend who just had hernia surgery for the same reason- hernia pressing on lungs, affecting breathing…the surgery can help, though recovery might take some time depending on the type of surgery…delaying treatment isn’t great—you want to avoid problems that can develop from reduced lung capacity ….glad you raised this issue because so many people end up going to many doctors without relief ! Wishing you the best !

@nycmusic thank you! I have been going round on a merry go round with this problem of low O2 levels.

Two nights ago a good friend told me that he would probably need surgery on his hernia. I started reading about the hernia pressing on lungs. It was an ah ah moment.

I’m not worried about any surgeries. A total knee replacement was named the most painful surgery. I have had both mine done…

Are you a musician from NY?
I know a few…

I have read that the stomach can get under the lungs in people who have hiatus hernia. A trick that I have read is to stand on your tippy toes and then go down on your heel fast. This is supposed to bring back the hernia. This would not be something that a medical professional would tell you as I remember reading it in an article on alternative medicine but I think that it works for me,I can breathe better after doing it anyway.
