anyone had any luck with Belsomra to put you to sleep

I take ambien for a couple of years , have copd. Somehow I got insomnia. Ambien usually works for putting me to sleep, not always. but I am always sleepy the next day. What do you all use, if you have COPD, as it makes a difference if you have COPD, not all sleep pills are good for you either that. doc recommended Belsomra? any ideas?

I take belsomra 15 mg at night. I do not have COPD. It’s ok, not as good as some of the others, but keeps my nighttime wakenings at bay. Most of the alternatives are generic. Belsomra is not. $400/ month retail. With my Medicare advantage plan, I pay $131 for 3 months worth

Belsomra worked for me okay, but I find Quviviq to work better with less morning grogginess. Both companies offer co-pay assistance cards if you have insurance (saves me a lot of money). I do not have COPD though.

I used 10 mg Zolpidem for quite a while but it left me groggy in the morning. I overcame this by going on a five mile morning walk or a 20 mile bike ride. This really helped (also lost weight and got in better shape). I switched to Belsomra about two months ago. I found it to be less effective and it consistently gave me headaches at night. I switched back to Zolpidem. For me Belsomra did not provide the nighttime sleep I need.
