Anyone had a decipher test done? Did the results impact treatment?

The Decipher is run on prostate biopsy cores or on the tumor material if you have a prostatectomy.

I had decided on surgery and after having decipher test showing I was at 93% (highly aggressive) it just confirmed decision to do surgery. So yes I feel decipher test is worth doing from my point of view.

Decipher test should become standard. It does not require any further biopsies it uses the biopsies already taken. It is expensive though but if your insurance does not cover it they will bill you based on your income. Medicare does cover it.

I had it done with a risk level on intermediate from Gleason score. The Decipher came back low risk. This changed my treatment plan from radiation with hormone treatment to radiation without hormone treatment needed based on oncologist/radiologist at Mayo Jacksonville.

Some other test you should consider are the PSMA and bone scans. This can also further determine the level of your cancer and if within your prostrate or has spread.

I would like to see you results. Had Prolaris one year ago at another institution but Mayo wants Decipher on repeat biopsy this year . Said I can consider surveillance if decipher is low but Mayo preference is I go ahead and treat. My Prolaris was favorable for AS so on pins and needles awaiting decipher.

I can't recall all my post on this. I was offered the Decipher test at Mayo Jacksonville after my biopsies came back as intermediate risk. The R/Os suggested Decipher and bone scan. The Decipher test was done and it came back low risk. It did change my treatment recommendations from radiation and hormone to radiation only.

My bone scan came back negative also. I had my proton radiation done at UFHPTI because Mayo Jacksonville could only offer photon radiation. At UFHPTI the R/O wanted another test done PSMA. That too came back negative. The R/O agreed (medicanl information shared per second opinion request) with my Mayo R/O and urologist for radition only and no hormone treatments.

Since January 2023 I have been a proponent of gettting a Decipher test. It really changed my treatment plan and did not require any additional biopsies as they used the same biopsies at Decipher. These existing and new test to give a better diagnosis are beneficial to prostate cancer patients and hopefully new ones will be even better giving a more precise diagnosis to help with treatment options.

Also, you can still do it on your biopsy or pathology specimen, even if they are a few years old. It sounds like you had RP, so you wouldwant to do it on the latter.
