Anyone experienced burning sensation/tenderness?

Posted by meomurian @meomurian, May 27, 2023

I had DCIS 11 years ago with two surgeries to remove malignant tissue in my left breast. I then underwent 6 weeks of radiation. Last week, I began to feel a painful burning sensation and soreness in one area of that breast. First time I have experienced this kind of pain. I took a natural anti-inflammatory pill in am and pm and the pain has decreased.

I have just been diagnosed with DCIS and that was how I discovered it. Burning first. The pain came later. I did not mention it for a year, until I felt the lump. I was under the impression that cancer was painless. The breast expert\ surgeon I saw told me that is a fallacy. The lump is in my left breast and is Very painful. The burning continues and has started in the right. He has ordered a breast MRI to be done before the lumpectomy which is scheduled before the end of July. He said that was the best way to find any breast cancer.

Funny you should say that. My oncologist kept telling me if it hurts it isn’t the cancer coming back because breast cancer isn’t painful.
Really? Did you have breast cancer because mine felt like a giant painful bruise.
Eventually I found a different oncologist that didn’t dismiss it.
I am super glad it is still in situ, almost the earliest possible detection.
How are you doing, any treatment plan yet?

I am fine- Thank you for asking! The only plan right now is to get it out. He feels that a mastectomy is far too invasive. I will see him 3 weeks post surgery to get the pathology results. I am happy it is grade 1 and I know I am in excellent hands. How are you doing ?

I am tip top at the moment. Lol
We aren’t given guarantees of course, but I feel grateful to be able to do the things I love and be with my husband.
3 weeks post surgery seems like a long time for path results.
Are you good at waiting?🙃

I ended up having an ultrasound after the mammogram. The mammogram was fine but the ultrasound showed suspicious looking tissue so they did a core biopsy. I get the results later this week. I’m glad I went. Praying now for good results.
