Anyone experienced burning sensation/tenderness?

Posted by meomurian @meomurian, May 27, 2023

I had DCIS 11 years ago with two surgeries to remove malignant tissue in my left breast. I then underwent 6 weeks of radiation. Last week, I began to feel a painful burning sensation and soreness in one area of that breast. First time I have experienced this kind of pain. I took a natural anti-inflammatory pill in am and pm and the pain has decreased.

Like you I am more than a few years out from my radiation. If this were me, I would be looking to get an ultrasound, just to be sure. I am making the assumption that you get annual mammograms. So an ultrasound probably makes more sense. But this needs to be in a setting familiar with breast issues.
If there is something there they can order a biopsy and if there isn’t, you can go celebrate with an eased mind.
Do you have access to a doctor who would asses this?

I have only had mammograms never an ultrasound. I have my regular mammogram scheduled for August, but will call the doctor if I’m still feeling this pain at the end of the week and see what she says. Thankfully. I can go to MD Anderson in the survivorship program. I appreciate your response to my question.

Was your pain on the side where you had cancer treatment?

Yes. I had a bilateral. No chemo nor radiation. Letrozole only.
