Anyone else having luck splitting their dose of prednisone?

I just started splitting my dose of prednisone. I’m on 6.5 so I take five in the morning and 1.5 at night really seems to have made a difference. I’ve been on teetering between seven and six. I seem to have to go back to 6.5 but now that I’ve split it, I might try just six anyone else

This is my 2nd bout in ten years. I absolutely had to split mine with really good results. The trick is when you get down to 3 to 5 managing the reduction. Good luck.

I split mine too and it made all the difference. I weight the split more heavily toward the morning dose to hedge against prednisone related insomnia. I’m now at 7.5 mg pred per day (4am + 3.5pm). My hope is when I get under 5 mg each day the pain will be fading enough that little, if any, night pred will be needed. We’ll see. I find the most consistent thing about PMR is how inconsistently is affects each person. This forum is full of success stories and various techniques that work for various types of PMR patients (age of onset, physical fitness, diet, complicating factors, etc.) The key is to listen to your body, your medical team, and positive experiences from those who share this condition. Good luck!

Has anyone who needs to split their prednisone dose discussed LDN with their doctor? I had to taper off prednisone because of SMM and my rheumatologist prescribed 3mg LDN to help bridge from prednisone to kevzara. It's taken before bed and it helps me sleep through the night. I'm full off prednisone now and I still take LDN, but 4.5mg now while I wait for kevzara to start working.
