Anyone dealing with vascular dementia and nighttime aggression?

My husband suffered a significant brain bleed last year. His recovery has been a real rollercoaster. Great progress, walking, talking, participating in therapy, capable of doing most things on his own. His biggest challenge is memory related. No short term memory and at times, he doesn’t know me, typically when he first wakes or is very tired. Lately, though, around 7:00 pm, he gets a loop in his brain, a fixated notion that, for example, the glass of milk needs to be thrown off the table. I have tried to redirect, but to no avail, until that glass goes crashing down. So yes, switching to plastic. After, he is scared and apologetic. Any advice? I have been giving him ativan at the first sign but any other med suggestion?

The only advice I can suggest, if you haven't already done it - make sure that plastic cup is a "sippy cup". You will not only avoid the broken glass, but you will not need to clean up the liquid mess either. There are such cups for adults.

I do not have that problem with my wife. Yet. I can only suggest to try utube videos and see if any will help. Or try drugs a mild dose? I feel for you. It is hard enough to deal with.
