Any info on Pulmonary Blastoma?

My partner was just diagnosed with Pulmonary Blastoma a very rare lung cancer. How can I convince him to go to Mayo?

@mef no. It was new to me so I went to the NIH website to learn about it.

@mef , I'm hoping that he's doing well, and that you are there to help him. How soon are they getting him in for surgery?

@mef I'm sorry this is happening to you guys. there's really not a way for any of us to know how quickly Mayo could help. I would call their scheduling line first thing Monday morning and explain your partner's situation. I live in Seattle and was initially seen by my regular clinic, but referred to our NIH cancer center, UW/Fred Hutch, due to having a rare/genetic cancer. They were able to see me within a week and worked to have all of my records transferred quickly, too. You must be worried. Let us know what you find out.

@mef sorry I don't know the answer to that. Contact the oncology department and ask to be connected with the office that can handle that request.

@mef, I'm sorry to hear that the date has been pushed back. Did you let them know that he would be open to an earlier date if something earlier opens up? The waiting is sometimes one of the hardest parts. I'm sure you feel helpless. Other health centers/systems will be busy too, but you won't know for sure unless you try. Is he open to looking elsewhere?
For Mayo Clinic, the process begins with filling out the appointment request found here: https://www.mayoclinic.org/appointments. Because of the urgency, I would probably follow up the form with a phone call. The appointment staff may be able to give you an idea of what to expect as far as the timeline goes. Hugs to you.
