Any experience with Mexiletine (brand names Mexitil and Namuscla)?

Would appreciate hearing from anyone if they have been treated with Mexiletine (brand names Mexitil and Namuscla) for fibromyalgia or wide spread neuropathy burning.

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Fibromyalgia Support Group.

My neurologist said he can offer Mexiletine (brand names Mexitil and Namuscla) for my widespread burning pain if the 1,800 mg Gabapentin with 75 mg Nortriptyline cannot provide adequate pain relief. I would be interested in hearing if anyone has had experience with this med which frightens me when I read side effects, etc.

Hi @marenew, I have no experience with Mexiletine but thought I would share a few references that mention the drug with you while you wait for other members with experience to share what they've learned.

Thank you for these very informative references. I have a feeling Mexiletine is used very infrequently as I cannot find much with internet search as relates to neuropathic pain.
