Controlling type 2 diabetes with diet alone

Posted by chesterc @chesterc, Dec 12, 2017

I live in the UK and have recently been diagnosed type 2 diabetic. I have yet to start testing but have made an attempt at diet.
What are the chances of my being able to control my levels with diet alone?
The Mayo Clinic Connect was my pick as I enjoyed my visit at Rochester in 1959.

What is the "proper diet" that you adhere to to manage your diabetes?

Each person with Type 2 diabetes needs to learn what triggers their blood sugar swings and concentrate on managing them. This can be different for everyone, and the best way to manage yours is to meet with a dietician or diabetes educator to establish your own goals for food, exercise and medication.
Have you asked your provider about that?

I was diagnosed with Type II more than 20 years ago.

My experience is that no amount of dieting alone is very effective.

Get plenty of exercise, though, and diet matters less. Movement will burn sugar out of my blood very rapidly.

Again, this is just me. It's probably different for everybody.
