Anorexia

Posted by anaforlife @anaforlife, Nov 17, 2011

I have been looking all over this forum and couldn’t fid one single post about anorexia so I figured the mental health section would suit it best. I just feel a bit alone in my life as far as an eating disorder goes and was wondering if anyone else suffers from either anorexia or bulimia?

I don’t have an eating disorder but I have a friend that is anorexic. The doctor told her that she could die if she does not gain weight. She is about 80 lbs. and is addicted to exercise, so when she does eat she burns it off and can’t seem to gain weight. Are getting any help from a professional?

No I’m not. I have no health insurance so I only go to the doctor when I really need
It since I pay out of pocket.

Your name makes you sound like you are pro ana. is this true? If so getting better is going to take an entire change of attitude.

I’ve been in and out of treatment for anorexia/EDNOS for a long time. You’re not alone and recovery is possible with time, patience, and lots of time challenging and facing fears, with lots of support though!!!

Its so hard when everyone in your life you thought you could trust just up and leaves and you are left with no support 🙁 but I’m trying 🙂

I’m 14 and I have had an eating disorder for as long as I can remember. I went to treatment but the place was HORRIBLE. Treatment is more like a prison than anything else. Doctors really don’t understand ED’s at all!

New to this 'community'.

In 2018 I had the last 8 or 9 of my useless teeth removed. Despite adapting, I shortly just lost my appetite for most things. My CADIOLOGIST told me to EAT ICE CREAM!!!!

In 2021 I had an esophageal stricture and hiatal her repaired. This procedure basically laid to waste the valve between gullet and stomach. It is a straight shot through. Everything enters with a splash (displacement), and everything exits in long, loud burps. What I COULD eat is now uncomfortable.

In March of 2018 I tipped the scales between 165 and 170. In a couple months I'd dropped to the 140, and have been slowly creeping downward. I've twice dipped to 129. I snack on 'Natural' organic crackers, and 'eat' Progresso soups. I have just recently started adding a coupl tablespoons of extra noodles.

I am nearing a year of PT for some SEVERE sciatica, which helps neither my appetite or attitude. I've been OK a few weeks now, but for a spell every coupl weeks there would be a couple days I JUST COULD NOT GET UP! No soup. No meds. No NOTHING for a day or two. During which I would drop another couple pounds, that I cannot put back on.

I am in the Arizona State Medical Marijuana Program. Munchies?!?!?! Nope! I am on a script from a previous psychiatrist apparently concurred by my NEW PNP for Mirtazapine, which is supposed to increase appetite. Nope.

I am HOPING a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Program will help.

And I am on a VERY helpful CBT site hosted by a Dr.

I am disabled. January 15 was my birthday turning 70. My Mrs. is a couple years behind me and works 24/7 from the home in Blind and Visually Rehabilitation teaching computers, smartPhones, and other devices.

We home 20+ cats. (www.shadowcats3.com) It's just the two of us.

I have issues, chronic depression, anxieties, worries, and what not, but I don't feel any in particular, or the sum of them, to be generating enough worry to keep me from eating. I neither wring my hands, pace the floor, stare blankly and forlornly into the mirror not tug on my hair.

At 5'8", my 'Body Mass Index' was still in the 'acceptable' range, but getting near to 'wraith'.

Obviously open to comments and suggestions.

Thankmew in advance.
