Anastrozole effect on TSH Thyroid??
I began taking Anastrozole 14 months ago, other than having breast cancer I was completely health. No other health issues, no medications other than allergy pills. Now my thyroid isn't working properly, I have gained 50lbs in 12 months, I have psoriasis all over my body. My fear is that if I start taking thyroid medication where does it end. I have had allergic reactions to medications in the past. What are the negatives if I quit taking the anastrozole?

So sorry you have had these issues which must be very discouraging. As for negatives if quitting Anastrozole, this is really question for a professional.
Hopefully there is a solution for you. Best wishes.

2 ReactionsHi! @cilla62:
I am so sorry for what you've been through lately, my heart and prayers go out for you upon reading your post!
Unfortunately, I am not an expert on this matter; but as far as I know, Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin condition very itchy and painful, and can be caused by genetics, stress, other infections, or other health issues such as: psoriatic arthritis. I understand that you used to be completely healthy - other than being diagnosed with breast cancer more than one year ago. Please consult with your physicians as soon as possible, because only they can interpret your TSH test results in context with symptoms and other tests to determine which treatments, such as: topical creams, light therapy, or medications, and life-style changes, etc., are the most effective for you. Further, please reach out to your medical oncologist to find out if there is an actual link between Anastrozole and Psoriasis and what would be his/her advice on dealing with this issue going forward.
My prayers are with you for a better journey ahead!

1 ReactionHello @cilla62 welcome to connect, where we can meet up with other people who have a similar medical history and get support and sometimes education.
I took anastrazole for an extended period of time and never had this problem, but this question was asked here in 2020.
This is the comment that our connect director posted on that question.

I believe it is still a relevant comment and will take you to that discussion so you can read past comments on this topic.
Have you talked to your doctor about discontinuing the anastrozole? Did they have thoughts on this?
