AMD diagnosis and prognosis 🙏
I was told in 2022 that I have soft drusen of the macula. I recently learned via reading my records that I have actually had drusen as long ago as 2018, but the Drs decided not to share that information with me for whatever reason, even tho it's written in my records. I very recently turned 57, I see a retina specialist 2x per year, I still have a vision Acuity of 20/20. I've been told it's very possible I may never progress and that many patients retain great central vision for decades. I'm hoping to find people who can relate to what I'm being told so I can have true optimism in this diagnosis and prognosis.
I'm very afraid but I don't want to be.
Please anyone who was diagnosed with AMD at younger than normal age or who has had it for years or decades with no great changes I would love to hear from you.

Hi,
I don't have AMD but I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa in 2006. That's an eye disease that eventually turns into blindness. They sent me to another state to see a very expensive specialist and then I had two very expensive doctors and tests at home. I was seeing fine the whole time and all the tests were turning out perfect. I started eating a lot of Vitamin A foods which helped my eye sight or at least the doctors thought so. I also found out that this disease shows up when you are in your 20's not your 60's. Given that information they then said it was a mild case. My eyesight at now age 78 is the same as it has been all along; not good but OK. I have worn glasses since I was 6. Every time I see a regular eye doctor they say my eyes have no change. I'm not saying the doctors lied to me but they possibly over reacted to some symptoms that weren't really that bad.
If you are seeing good maybe you should just take some time off from the eye doctors and see how things go.
It also helps to pray. I have done a lot of that about my eyes also. God was there for me and he will be there for you too. I'll say a prayer for you too.
I wish you the best.
