All pain gone after one "test"

Posted by mrmik @mrmik, Nov 9 12:20am

Woke up for the first time in years WITHOUT PAIN
My friend has always told me, "If you wake up one day without pain, you know you for sure you're dead!"
Fortunately it was not true.

I have suffered from Chronic pain in my lower back for the last 6 years which started after I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Initially, Steroid injections in the back helped.
After a few years, the injections eventually stopped working after a few months.
Then I was treated with RFA (Radio Frequency Ablation of the Medial Nerve)First with a hot needle (90 deg C) in 2 locations which lasted for 2 months.
Secondly with a cold needle (60 deg C) in 8 locations. But now the pain changed to a burning sensation "in a wide belt" inside my lower back for 4 months.
After that I have been in pain constantly with varying intensity plus feeling inflammation in all parts of my body.
Therefore I have been "treating" myself using finely ground Turmeric, Cinnamon, Ginger, Vanilla, black pepper and honey as a thick slurry. Taken as a tablespoon every evening before bedtime as it is supposed to be good against inflammation. I have felt some relief but nothing significant.

NOW
As a Chemical Engineer I started looking at the nature of inflammation and compared it to the active ingredients in my cocktail. And it turned out that it should work.

HOWEVER
Without getting too technical, the inflamed areas were in zones of a fatty nature which are hydrophobic (repels water - like water droplets on a goose)
At the same time, the active ingredients in my cocktail (except for honey) are also hydrophobic.
SO the cocktail had little effect because they were not properly dissolved and released as the stomach fluids are the opposite of hydrophobic = hydrophilic.
In other words the active ingredients went down the toilet.

Alcohol
It turned out that the active ingredients in my cocktail powders would easily dissolve in Alcohol.

So to make a long story short
I dissolved one teaspoon of each spice (but only a 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper) with a table spoon of honey in a double shot of Rum.
Stirred it for some minutes and enjoyed it.
The next morning; I WAS PAIN FREE!
I was laying in bed looking up at the ceiling enjoying every minute of it.
After going for a swim in the afternoon, I began to feel slight pain or rather tension but only 10% of usual.

The day after (at the time of this writing) I have only minimum pain, or rather a tension in my back.
I realize my test only represents one datapoint, but it is a good start with an unbelievable outcome.

MY NEXT APPROACH
I have already made a bottle of slurry (same ingredients) but using only enough alcohol to make it flow like a thick slurry for the purpose of limiting the alcohol intake.
I plan to take one tablespoon of slurry in the evening before bedtime.

DISCLOSURE
I am 6 feet, 216 lbs. and enjoyed not only one but 3 cocktails that evening. So the medical term could suggest I was under anesthesia when I went to bed (in leigh man terms: DRUNK)
I am not suggesting anyone do as I have done, and also check the side effects of the spices in the cocktail.

Oh wow, that is the way to do it. Awesome. Luv ❤️ it. None of the driving back n forth thru traffic to appointments. Dry needling I agree, also can help.

I've watched quite a lot of the docs of actual cruises & also the ones about different types of these vessels that travel our seas. So interesting plus scenery. Congrats on travelling in style, trying new treaments & feeling good.

Thanks Elle!

In my career, I traveled all over the world. It was fun and now that I look back on it, an opportunity few people get. My wife joined me on business trips to Paris and London, so she got to see a bit of the world as well.

Now that we're retired, the last thing we want is to travel overseas. The flights are still too long. Our vacation goals now are 1) minimize the moving parts, 2) unpack once, 3) get as much luxury treatment as possible.

We are very fortunate to be able to do this. We also feel we worked hard and made sacrifices and deserve a bit of luxury now.

If you haven't tried a cruise, check out Royal Caribbeans Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. These are the biggest ships in the world. Even with 7000 passengers and 2500 crew, it's possible to find nice, quiet spots, away from the crowds.

And how about you? What do you like to do when you get away?

Happy Thanksgiving Elle!

Joe

What a great story!!

I'm 81 years young, 24 surgeries under my belt, 7 being low back fusions.

Please give us an update as time goes on about your recipe for successful pain relief.

I've had so many unsuccessful injections, and spinal cord stimulations I'm about to let the "Old Man" catch up to me. I stole that line from Clint Eastwood.

Thanks for the hope of eliminating pain along with a cold glass of Chardonnay.

Wow, you have been through a lot of treatment and pain.

Following my "test" will get you drunk, so happy thanks giving.

Keep in mind I was targeting inflammation areas throughout the body.

I forgot to mention in my writeup that prior, during extreme pain periods, it helped tremendously to lay in the sun for 30 minutes on each side.
If you are afraid of getting burned, cover yourself with a white sheet.

PS
24 surgeries under your belt!
Did they get "it" to work?

Sorry I couldn't resist it.

@bb03 bb03.

I just found this recipe for weight loss on line.

It's pretty much identical to my COCKTAIL because I use rum instead of the coffee as coffee is hydrophillic.

Turmeric Coffee for weight loss:

1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1⁄4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ground ginger.

To fight INFLAMMATION Substitute coffee with
90 ml rum
Plus 1 to 2 table spoons honey.

You're the BEST!!

YES, all of my back surgeries gave me pain relief for 5 to 7 years, but I also suffer from 40 to 42-degree scoliosis.

Each fusion causes weak spots after 5-7 years and we have to repeat another fusion to compensate.

My last low back surgery was Oct 2023 due to cyst removal, and all old fusion metal had to be removed and replaced with new. That surgery was successful, months later I developed severe pain down my right leg and since Oct 2023, injections, stimulators have failed and your "rum" recipe sounds doable.

Thanks, again for your recipe.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Yours!!

Thanks so much for your kind words Elle. (We were on Royal Caribbean's new Star of the Seas.) These new ships are MASSIVE and the entertainment they offer is off the charts good. On this trip, I had six treatments in the spa, including acupuncture. We cruised the Eastern Caribbean and never got off the ship. The ship is the destination.

I have recently tried dry needling. This differs from acupuncture in that the needle is put directly into a tight muscle/knot. It's not very painful, and my therapist can "feel" if the muscle twitches and then releases. At any rate, the results are immediate and my lower back feels great.

All the best Elle!

I'm trying not to get too crazy with the "clean" concept. I just research alot and when something hits me as logical, I go with it. I don't want to be doing something that will make matters worse if I can help it. I was watching a podcast of a well-known doctor in Australia ( as I recall) who contends getting anymore Covid vaccines or boosters actually causes cancer to grow. I sure don't want that. I, unfortunately had to have two of the vaccines as I work around elderly population. I have wondered if that is what made the last tumor grow.
