Afib Triggers: Mine is my neck or body position, yours?
My atrial Fibrillation triggers with neck position or body. My neck and torso are relatively short and I seem to compress the Vagus nerve if my neck is sharply bent or the same with my torso. Have you ever heard of that? That is the only time it does so.

Even though it may not be a great experience when the dreams are most vivid and most unsettling, they ARE dreams....and that's good. Dreaming is an indication of your sleep going through the various stages uninterrupted...which is what everyone....ummm....dreams of. 😀
Some where in this group I saw a post about dreams. I've started to have some fantastic dreams even before I started Melatonin. They are very real and when I wake up I feel unsettled. Some dreams are nice, some aren't.

There is one more important component to valsalva....you have to strain, or bear down, as if you're trying to defecate. So, yes, take a breath, close up the upper airway, but then you tighten your stomach muscles and attempt to poop...with caution. Hold that for about six to ten seconds, release, see if the heart rate/rhythm has corrected itself.
For some strange reason, laying on my right side will trigger my Afib. I have found my Afib to moderate when I practice the valsalva maneuver which is nothing more than holding your breath (10 - 15 seconds) after a large intake of air.
Yes - my afib seems to come in the middle of the night if I wake up too warm or don’t get enough sleep. Sometimes I have a weird smell before I go into afib - I know it sounds crazy -
Some people get tachycardia or atrial fibrillation when they get into bed, or they get it when they bend over, or when they stand....so some of it is positional. The person means that being in bed and being too warm can trigger his arrhythmia or tachyarrhythmia.
Please consider my advice (I think here, or maybe it was another thread, earlier) of taking a low dose melatonin as soon as you awaken at 0300. It works reasonably well if you can keep your mind in neutral. The chemical has a low half-life and doesn't seem to affect sleep for many people after about four hours, so if your morning is largely clear of obligations, and you end up sleeping until 0900....oh well! 😀
