Hello @oliviagregory and welcome to the Parkinson's discussion group on Mayo Connect. I can understand your concern for your parent with PD. You indicate that he/she is not getting appropriate care from their spouse. Is the spouse physically and emotionally able to provide the type of care that is needed?
I'm wondering: What type of care is needed? Is it physical care, like bathing, dressing, or is it more complex than that? Have you talked to your parent's neurologist to see what more can be done to control the PD symptoms?
Finally, contacting a social worker at the hospital where your parent's neurologist works might be a great deal of help to you. Hospital social workers have a keen awareness of help that is available to patients with different chronic health issues. Have you looked into any extra help or perhaps an assisted living situation where your parent and the spouse could reside and get extra help?
