ADT duration after Radiation

Posted by Guerri2024 @guerri2024, Nov 5, 2025

During the PCRI conference, talking about the side effect of radiation on the penis, a doctor stated that you should ask your oncologist what is the clear benefits to continue ADT after Radiation because keep taking it can probably lead to a permanent ED. I am kind hesitant if I have to stop taking Orgovyx drug two months after the Radiation because of the side effects that that doctor mentioned.
Any thought about it?

Thank you very much for your reply. Can you please tell me more about mushrooms capsules or powder, where to find them? a lot of people are talking those mushrooms, what so good about them? are they better than Orgovyx or Eligard?

@guerri2024 look back a few posts and I posted a few links about it. You need to read the data in those links to get an appreciation what they may do. They are the same white mushrooms that you find in your local store. They are still in clinical trials but the results so far are positive it seems. There are many places to get the dehydrated mushrooms. Do a google search.

@bonanzaman Thank you for all the links! I really appreciate it. The supplements certainly can't hurt. What was your gleason score? Mine was 9. Not great but I'm not giving in to this! No way!

@dpayton , hi Doug, my Gleason score was 4+3 but the cancer is also in my hip. From the data from the clinical trials, the patients were taking up to 14 grams a day of WBM. the powder was put into capsules and I'm guessing capsule is close to a gram. If you think about it that's like six ounces of fresh mushrooms a day, which isn't much. The powder actually tastes pretty good and is a good supplement in a meat loaf or similar things.
I don't think all patients were affected by the WBM.

@bonanzaman In regards to the hip, can they just zap that?

Do you think there's a difference between the powder form vs capsule? I've read quite a few links on the potential help with WBM. Hoping it actually really DOES make a bit of a difference.

@dpayton I would say no as they dehydrate the mushrooms and then make a powder out of them and then put them in capsules. I've bought my powder from the same place twice and they were both different colors and tastes, both were good.
I bought a capsule maker and use them when I'm not at home as I enjoy taking the powder in warm/hot water in the morning and in the evening, I combine that with turmeric and it's like a breakfast soup. I take about 5 gm in the morning and the same in the evening.

I'm thinking that when I started taking this and the other supplements, I'll probably keep taking them forever as they may be the things that are keeping my cancer at bay. I don't think I want to stop and see if the cancer comes back, what's the reasoning for that.

@bonanzaman Same here. If I read something that could help with keeping the PSA low, I'm going for it! LOL That's very good that you like making a "soup" out of the WBM and turmeric. For me, I eat Kashi cereal which the app Yuka seems to love. Couple that with pomegranate juice and I think it's a decent start.

Keep the positive vibes going !!!!!
