Acid reflux occurrence after gastric sleeve

Posted by gmberg @gmberg, Dec 7, 2023

I am considering bariatric surgery. I've been told that acid reflux can be a real issue post op. Would appreciate any information or experience regarding this topic. Thanks

The Gastric Bypass would most likely cure your acid reflux. I had the gastric sleeve 11 years ago, and had terrible acid reflux. Hope this helps!

10 years out. I had the Gastric sleeve. Yes you might have reflux and it's normal. I still get reflux if I eat to much or spicy foods. Gaviscon is my friend. No biggie.

I realize you asked this questions in Dec 2023, but reflux is often mentioned in this group so thought I would comment. Members talk about certain foods cause problems after bariatric surgery. Sometimes during first year and sometimes it is a lifetime change. It is definitely a trial and error process.

Are you still considering bariatric surgery?
