Can Poor Lead Placement result in an Abnormal EKG
Female here. I thought it was strange the other day when my tech said I didn't need to remove any clothes for my EKG test. I had stockings on which she said I didn't need to remove after I volunteered to do so. She didn't put the electrodes on my legs but on my belly and the sides of the hips and not even under my breasts as other techs have done in the past. She also did not ask me to remove my necklace.
Result was a slow conduction result LBBB. I told my primary about the way the EKG was done when she called me to schedule a possible echo but now says we may have to repeat the EKG. After sending my EKG over to the cardiologist, it was decided that the best route to rule-out the result would be an ECHO. I had my regular ECHO last year which was normal.
Is that a strange placement for the leads?
